New Scouting Year Information

START-UP

The 2024 Scouting year starts January 1st, 2024 and runs through December 31st, 2024.  More information is available at Scouts Canada's site

All youth members will need to purchase a uniform shirt (or vest and hat for Beavers) from the Scout Shop and try to come in uniform for the first meeting.  All registered participants and volunteers will be contacted in late August or early September by our dedicated group volunteers with details about start-up activities and meetings.  In the meantime, learn more about Scouting activities in Southern Alberta and across Canada at our Chinook Council website or at Scouts.ca.

WE NEED YOU!

Did you know that all the adult members in a local Scout Group are volunteers?  This includes the adults organizing and supervising the section meetings as well as those behind the scenes organizing the group, booking facilities, managing registrations, organizing fund-raising and tracking the finances. It takes a village as the saying goes and there are opportunities to help out at all levels of commitment!  Each section must meet minimum supervision ratios so the more volunteers we have, the more youth can get involved!

Do you or someone you know enjoy spending fun and educational time with youth and helping them grow into the leaders of tomorrow? Do you have skills that would be useful for administration, fundraising or fun learning activities?  You do not require any special skills or even be "outdoorsy" to volunteer.  A successful Scout group thrives on a diverse team of volunteers.  Please consider joining as a volunteer - you can register online at MyScouts.ca.  A Police Record Check and some straightforward screening and training are required. Screening, training and uniform costs are covered by our group.
